Turn Monitor Off (MonOff)

Introduction

This is a program that will turn your monitor(s) off when run. This can be linked to a system event or hotkey etc.

Detail

When I was at University, I had a TV card and used to watch TV when I went to bed at night. I quickly got annoyed with having to get up and turn the computer off when I wanted to go to sleep. The solution I came up with was to hack my TV card remote's drivers so that I could run programs off specific key presses on the remote. I quickly had access to a lot of my computers functions right from that remote. I could completely control media player, I could shut down programs, switch between programs and power the system down. Then came the day when I was running a program over night so I couldn't just shut the computer down, so again I had to get out of bed to turn the monitor off. This caused me make the first version of MonOff. It was a quick job hacked-up in Delphi. It was slow and large, but did the trick. I could now switch the monitor off from my bed.

Soon I started to get requests for my program as word spread, but I was unhappy with supplying the program I had made as the executable was so large (almost half a meg). This lead to me to recode the application in C++ with the result of a much smaller executable (22k). Below is the final program. Feel free to use and distribute it.
